AROUND THE NEIGHBORHOOD AND AROUND THE WORLD
The Fabulary is publishing Around the Neighborhood and Around the World, an anthology of illustrations and stories from people who have immersed themselves in other cultures, in Spring 2004.Have you made a commitment to a community -- even a neighboring one -- very different from the community in which you were raised? Have you lived abroad for an extended period, or returned several times to the same area to work? How has this affected your definition of "home"?
Interested writers should send a story proposal (with a planned word count) and two writing samples (500-1000 words preferred). If your proposal is accepted, we will set a date for you to submit the final piece. We will also review completed pieces with CVs. We will not accept Word attachments; please share your clips as URLs or as text within the email message. Send proposals and queries to the editor, Bethany Polentz.
We are also accepting art for this anthology. If you are an illustrator, please send us an illustration proposal and a link to your online portfolio. If you are a photographer and would like to share a brief series of photos, please URL a sample of two or three. We are happy to show selections from larger exhibits and link to your gallery.
Around the Neighborhood and Around the World was conceived by Caitlin Burke and Alex Baron and is managed by its editor, Bethany Polentz. Each anthology at the Fabulary is a joint effort of contributors, editor, and publisher, and each contributor retains ownership of his or her work.
